Abstract

This study highlights the need to address the issue of diversity inclusion amongst teachers in the Texas agricultural education system.  An examination of the attitudes towards proposed solutions to increasing diversity inclusion in agricultural programs was conducted to identify useful strategies geared towards cultural competency.  Results showed an overall agreement amongst educators to develop an environment within agricultural studies that includes an inclusive representation of students of color.  Additionally, there was also support for educators, parents, and policy makers to ensure that the development of strategies to address the different learning styles of all students.  The significance of this study resides in the need to establish an inclusive curriculum in order to support and foster the growth of cultural competency within the classroom.
