Abstract

It is the responsibility of educators to provide content and experiences that are inclusively representative to ensure that students are prepared to participate and contribute in a multicultural environment.  This publication discusses the limitations placed upon student learning as a result of inadequate interaction with individuals from different cultures or ethnic groups.  The study presented employs a service learning activity to foster interactions between a minority-based collegiate organization and an adolescent leadership development course.  The findings offer support for the use of service learning as a method to enhancing student’s multicultural learning and competence within agricultural studies.
