Based on the Index for Inclusion, Booth contemplates the inclusive growth of teacher education from a pragmatic perspective. Inclusion is defined as putting inclusive values for education into practice. The author argues that singular mainstream approaches to inclusion have the tendency to reduce inclusion to the field of special education without any regard for the curriculum content. Instead, Booth pushes for a values-and rights-based curriculum for schools in an attempt to bridge the gap between theory and action. This article offers an alternative curriculum for teachers, and pre-service teachers, who are seeking to make their classrooms more inclusive.
